| new tank i am setting up my new fish tank and i was wondering about live rock and live sand. the rock and sand i am getting is from a guy i know and he has had the rock and sand in a tank for almost a year now and he has to get rid of that tank because he just got a 250 gallon tank. do i need to cycle the tank i am getting since the rock is already cured. thanks mike |

| Even with his rock in your tank I would take your time and let the tank run for a little while to cycle and make sure you won't have problems later on. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| I agree with Otty. I just hope your buddy's tank didnt have anything that might mess up yours. | You are probably saving some cash by getting the stuff from your buddy but still treat it like it has to be cycled and you will be off to a better start. Good Luck and welcome |

| you wont need to cycle the tank, the tank will cycle itself if its needed. patience, set up the new system and give it some time |
