| Came home tonight and got stuck in again !!! The little Chinese man had no problem erecting the cabinet and I got to spraying the rear of the tank . Please note for anyone who wishes to do this, as over spray seams to get everywhere !!! In an apartment I had no choice to just do it but I now could audition for the blue man group ! First of all I masked up the area and walls and everywhere else I could, then wiped the area clean on the tank. The first coat of paint was a green paint with glitter in , after two coats and letting it dry I then used dark blue. The result is a PIMP MY TANK colour which when the light catches it glistens. Nice if I do say so myself. A bluely – green sparkly colour !!! After an hour of cleaning over spray from the floor, side boards and myself I then got the filters stocked up with media. I have three types which are the following: please comment on this to ensure I am using media which will not harm the fish, the pet shop & the box said it was all ok for sea and fresh water fish. 1) Bio Ball – Bottom of the external filter 2) Ceramic Boi-Ring – Top of external filter & in “Crappy In-tank filter” 3) High Absorptive Carbon – Middle of external filter Then I got my new air pump and cut a hole in the other cupboard for lead and hoses. First air hose will go in the last compartment of the “crappy filter” (which is on top of the tank) with the ceramic boi-ring, the other air hose will go to the skimmer once it arrives. I have the heater all cleaners and food for the coral and fish once they arrive, also have the marine salt ready !!! I have a few items which I now have to wait for , which I hope will be with me on Thursday. Please see pictures and comment if you see anything wrong !! _________ 73 Gallon SunSun tank, 1x20 watt bulb & 2 x 30 watt bulb, SunSun external UV filter, SunSun internal tank filter, Air pump, E-jet heater 100w, Jebo 180 skimmer. |

| Dude, you are moving really fast.
Slow down and take a breather.
Is this going to be a fish only tank?
If not, you need to go thru the cycle process (nitrogen cycle) before adding any fish.
Am not certain filtration system going to be adequate for any significant fish load.
Planning on adding a skimmer?...if so, get it up and running before adding any fish.
Tips on mixing SW...
In Dubai, even your fresh tap water is going to have a high salt content as it is almost all desalinated water anyway.
If you are using bottled water. Aerate well with a air stone before using.
Get a refractometer to check sg as most swing-arm type hydrometers are notoriously inaccurate and can result in major fish loss if incorrect reading results.
Test sg at same temp as that that will be in tank.
Hope all goes OK.
Know it is all an exciting adventure.
Please share experiences with the rest of us.

| Im the same way, I like to speed up any part of a project if possible. Which in your case it can be done. The stand, filters, media, skimmer, lights etc...etc. After you add the last drop of SW to the tank, thats when you need to shift gears into SSLLOOWWW mode and become a patient person. _________ 9YR OLD 90G/55g custom sump/refug Mag18 Aquac 180skimmer 692w MH AC jr,yel&kole tang, midas&convict blenny,B&G chromies,Blk/yel fin chromie blackcap, nemo, neon goby,6line; Blastomussa Merleti,Acan ,BUBBLE,Torch,LTA, Acropora(2) Moon, assort zoas, yel& G star polyps, P&B ricordia, montiporas, cup&candy corals, xenias,B/G mush, flower ane(2), cherry red mussa, dusters, cleaning crew.. |
