new 75 gal

I have set up a new 75 gal. I just wanted to see if I was doing everything so far correctly. I am only moving across the hall, but still wanted to start a new 75.

I added 40lbs ls and 40 sand, black and black gray mix.
I added 1 cup of sand from my tank to the back corner, mine is white and is established.
I have 13lbs lr in there now, cured but not that aged.
It has been running for 5 days now,
I added 1 1/2 units of new chemi-pure.
I also dosed the tank with things that I normally give my 55 gal reef.
I wanted to get the calcium up and go a head and get the other essentials in there.
Today the water was pretty cloudy.
I added my coralife supper skimmer to it a few minutes ago.
I was going to let it run on there until the 1st when I move in.
My 55 doen't have a skimmer now, but still 1 unit chemipure on it.
With good water changes, 2 in the next 10days, will it be ok with out it?
Should I wait to add the skimmer?
Should I use the old water I am taking out of the 55 gal and put it in the 75?

Keep in mind I am just transfering everything over, except the fish, on the first. I am only trying to cycle the sand and the small amount of lr in there.

The plan is too tranfer everything in one night. The lr, coral, inverts, pumps, lighting. Leaving the fish and a small amount of lr and the sand in the 55. this will be my fish only tank.

hm, well i would tranfer the corals and such slowly maybe over a weekend or something? but idk, when i change mine i am changing it all in one day, so idk why not?

I would'nt worry about the skimmer or the calcium just yet.

And yes, use the water from your existing tank. You might be in for a bit of a roller coaster ride with this move. I tend to push the limits sometimes. Just plan for something bad so, if it happens you are expecting it.

I've changed out all my substrate(black to white) in a couple of hours before with no loss. I knew the risks though and knew something could go wrong. Didn't lose anything.

When do I worry about it?

Should I skim the water now? I did use tap water and prime. I have been adding water from my established tank though, and did use like 20 gal ro. I also dumped both canisters water into the tank. A ehiem and fluval that I use for surface skimming, chemipure and mehcanical. I also rinsed the sponges into the new tank as well. They had very little dabre, but I would think a lot of bacteria.

I have to move everything coral wise because of the light situation, that being I have enough lighting for one tank at a time.
If the sand is decently established and the lr rock I hav had half of it for almost 9 months, and the rest for 4 months. Thats 60lbs lr going in there.

I would run the skimmer full time. The New rock although cured will cause an algae bloom. I would get all your parameters up and equal to or better than your 55G. CA, ALK, Mag and of course Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate to zero. once that is stable I'd do the transfer in 1 night like planned

How much rock is coming from the 55G?

60+ lbs. I will keep the skimmer on the 75 then.
