Needing info on building a LARGE aquarium

Hi all- I am going to be helping a friend build about a 750 g tank for fresh water.
I could usse some reputable links for plans and/or equipment. It will be freshwater, and in a basement.

I am definately thinking of having the glass drilled so the pump, skimmer, heater, etc can be tucked away underneath.
What size sump should we use? Skimmer? heater? Thickness of glass, what type of material should we use for bands?
Any suggestions or (even better) facts would be great!

As far as a protein skimmer is concerned, you needn't worry about that as it won't work for a freshwater tank. For heating the tank, I would suggest a submersible heater because all the components are enclosed. Also, it is recommended, that 3 watts per gallon of water be used as far as the heating capacity. And since you are going to have such a big tank more than one heater is advised.
Lighting is not as big an issue as it is with reef tanks so the standard fluorescent bulb will work. Stay away from incandescent lighting as they emitt alot of heat and the colors aren't as vibrant. If you plan on having live plants, you may want to consider using a "vitalite" spectrum light to help the plants with photosynthesis.
As far as filtration goes I would use large cannister filters for the removal of wastes. They will do the same as the sump for a reef tank and will be concealed underneath the tank out of sight.
The only thing I am a little hessitant on is the thickness of the glass for that big a tank. You may want to talk to someone who specializes in working with glass or possibly contact a tank manufacturer such as All-glass!!
