Default need help choosing a protein skimmer

Hoping someone with some experience here can chime in.

I currently have a seaclear 50 gal system II tank. I was steered in the wrong direction by a LFS (imagine that) Currently there is 25lbs of LR and a few damsels. The tank has ben cycling for about two weeks but the LR has really helped that happen fast.

I want to get the AquaC Remora HOT skimmer but am not sure if it will fit this tank. Anyone with this setup have some good suggestions? TIA

I'm not familiar with your tank but this skimmer is only 6" wide and will easily fit on a 20g tank. Hope this helps some.

I use it for my 46 Gallon Oceanic and it fits fine. The Aqua C will mainly just hang off the back of your tank. As long as your tank is taller then 10", you should be fine.

Started 03/2006

46 Gallon, Aqua C Remora w/ Maxi-Jet 1200, 2 Hydor Koralia #1, Penguin Bio-Wheel 200 Filter (w/ no Bio-Wheel), 65 lbs live rock, 60 lbs live sand, Coralife 36" Lunar Aqualight 2x96w with LEDs.

LIVESTOCK
Fish: 2 false perculas, 1 Coral Beauty, 1 diamond goby
Inverts: 10 hermit crabs, 2 nassarius snails, 7 turbo snails, 1 electric blue crab, 1 skunk cleaner shrimp.

its really a matter of the baffles in the rear sump. The opening is 3.5" but the first chamber is roughly 6" but triangular in shape. I was hoping that a member on here has this tank and is running a skimmer on it.

I will probably buy it anyways and if it works...great. If not, I suppose I will look at adding an external sump/fuge below the tank and just use those chambers as overflow (which is what they are anyways) and plumb in/out of it. If I go that route I will also remove the bioballs and turn it into a small refuge too with just some LR rubble.

It is an awesome skimmer! I use it on my 30 hex tank! Very reliable and
quiet...
Happy hunting and best of luck here on 3reef and with your tank!

I love my remora. Plug and play! Needs cleaning only every few months. I wouldn't pick another over it. The company is very easy to deal with.

just wanna say thanks to Jerid Johnson. The pics are a big help. For anyone else who searches.

You can use a AquaC Remora H.O.T protein skimmer with the 50 Gal Seaclear System II.
