| Looking for opinions 4 tank Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say I'm new to the website and I was looking for a little bit of help. I have a 72 gallon bow front salt water tank. The question I have is about a wet / dry filter. Now Ive been looking online and seeing ton's of different options but I don't know which one will suit my needs best. Any advice on a choice would be great. I'm setting up a reef tank with about 5-7 fish, polyps, and soft corals. Also would a PhosBan be a good choice to add to my tank or is there a better one to use. Thanks |

| I cant help with the Wet/Dry as I am stuck to HOB for now.
For the Phosban, it depends if you have a problem to solve. Don't just add for the sake of adding.
I have Phosphate issures from my filtered water so I would use it.
Test first and add if needed.
\Cheers

| Welcome to 3reef! what kind of water are you using for top offs and changes? RO, RO/DI, something from the LFS or tap water.. May be the water has phosphates. I've found that as a general rule, if you have green algae in your tank you most likely have phosphates. I use a phos reactor with phosban and it's gotten rid of my phosphate and algae issues. Are you feeding sea weed sheets? I've also found that using these too often adds to the algae problem. How bout some pics I'd live to see a 72 bow front...I love bow fronts! _________ Got Questions? | Thanks for the input double2mk and cutingras,
Yea, I have a little hair alage but mostly on the side and back glass, and i would put a picture up but I'm still in the contruction stage of my tank (A little later). So you think it would be a good idea to throw in a PhosBan since I do have some alage. Also I did feed my tang some sea weed sheets but I don't anymore just for that reason. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of Wet / Dry to put in because I'm a little in the dark when it comes to what I should buy or even what brand is recomended. (Also, Should I get one with a refugium possibility or even put in a refugium?)
*Thanks* |

| I see Guru, do you by any chance have a picture of the underneath of your tank or a website where I could see how this set up works. I would appreciate it but if not thanks for the advice. |

| I have a 72 bowfront and here's how mine is setup. I have a 20 gallon tank sitting on a couple overturned buckets in the back of the tank, that's the refugium:
I got the tank for free from some lady. All you need to buy there is a PC light or something to grow the algae, and those are like $24 on ebay, not expensive at all. I only have two because the 72 came with one when I bought it.
Then my sump is nothing more than a $8 rubbermaid container from walmart!
I have a built in overflow on my 72, but you can easily incorporate an overflow box like the one I have employed on my refugium. Also I didn't point out the tube that's returning water to my display because it's kind of hard to see in that pic. It's black and more to the left and just behind the PVC bringing the water into the sump. _________ 125 Gal Reef.
