| Installing R.O. - need advice. I am starting up a 210g FOWLR and plan to install a Typhoon R.O. - not sure what model. Can anyone explain:
1) Is the waste water pumped out or it is gravity dependent.
2) Do I need to install the unit in a certain position i.e, above tank, below tank, or it does not matter.
3) What model should I use.
4) What is the basic setup.
I am installing the tank in wall, under my steps with the ability to install all of my equipment in the same room. My goal is to install the R.O. unit and have the waste drain to a pipe overhead. My supply line is also very close and not an issue. Any advic would be appreciated. |

| If I was you, I would simply get an RO unit for under the sink. Less complicated and much easier to set up. |

| 1st- I beleive its gravity dependent. Im not sure if they come with a pump.
2nd- It doesnt matter b/c its being feed by pressure, if your getting city water.
3rd- I dont know the model #'s, but I can tell you to get the one with as many stages as your wallet allows. RO/DI is better
4th- Some ppl have it connected to a ATO(automatic top off) system to replenish the evaporated water and others get the RO unit with a small holding tank(usually 3gals). _________ 9YR OLD 90G/55g custom sump/refug Mag18 Aquac 180skimmer 692w MH AC jr,yel&kole tang,midas&convict blenny,B&G chromies,Blk/yel fin chromie blackcap,nemo,neon goby,6line; Blastomussa Merleti,Acan ,BUBBLE,Torch,LTA, Acropora(2) Moon, assort zoas, yel& G star polyps, P&B ricordia, montiporas, cup&candy corals, xenias,B/G mush,flower ane(2), cherry red mussa, dusters,cleaning crew.. |

| 1) the waste water is pushed out under pressure from the pipes in your house, after the water leaves the system its by gravity
2) put it any where you want, but keep it level
3) personal preference, more stages the better
4) again personal preference, i run mine to aatoc into a CaOH2 reactor |

| I dont want to insult you, but you do know r/o is only for top off water or water for a water change. Just asking because of your question about mounting above or below the tank.

| I was asking about positioning because I was not sure about the operation of the unit i.e. if the water needed to be drained from the unit by gravity (mounting above the tank) vs. mounting the unit below the tank and having the ability to pump the water up to the tank. |

| I also wanted to know if the unit needed to above the drain where the waste water would be disposed or if it could be mounted at a lower level and be pumped up to a higher level. |

| I was worried that you were going to filter your tank with the unit. |

| Thanks. Like a nuclear bomb you would not know how to set one up unless you have done it before. |
