it depends on what type of corals you plan to have in the future that dictates what kind of lighting you should have.

i desagree, i have run T5's, pc's, and now am running MH's, i miss my
T5 HO's b/c i never had an issue with heat, and never had an issue with anything i kept, the light spectrum seemed to last longer and the bulbs where pretty cheap...id say with pc's you should really replace the bulbs every 6-8 months and the spectrum is really on the lower end of the totum-pole. the light from pc's has trouble penitrating into 18 in. plus deeper tanks, not saying that it cant be done but it will limit your coral selection... as for the skilter, i have never heard of anyone actually liking the one they got ater switching from a regular skimmer(food for thought)

and BTW that is one hell-of-a deal you got, congrats!!!!

What kind of coral is best for beginners and What would i have to do in order to keep it healthy and happy?

mushrooms, button polyps,star polyps are around some of the easiest to keep. lighting is about all to keep them happy.

I think nano is disagreeing with Sauce on the lights.

Well, there's 4 of those lights, plus another one that can either be put on or off.
And thank you RHorton for the coral advice.
Would the lights i have be enough for those kinds of coral?

ive heard of some poeple using regular florescents on tanks with stars/button pollyps in them, i think you will be fine

yes those lights would be fine for those types, what I have on my timer is the blue lights(actinics) turn on first then after an hour the white lights(10000k) turn on with them then an hour before the actinics turn off the white lights turn off. you don't have to do it that way just some thought.

I dont think they can turn on one at a time, the light bulb is two tubes that are side by side (fuse together in the middle and end) and one of them is blue while the other is white. Its one bulb but two tubes making it up.
