Default Help identify this guy; I think he's bad

Please tell me what this little guy is at the base of my Xenia. From other discussions he looks like a bad anemone. If so should I just pluck him off or is it worse?

What about peppermint shrimp? There is no way I'm going to get a copperband in my nanotank. :'( Does anyone have experience with pepermint shrimp? This is the only aiptasia that I can find.

You can use a syringe and inject the aiptasia with lemon juice. I have read that this is very effective and has to be done on a 1 to 1 basis. Make sure you can get the juice into the critter.

Peppermint shrimp supposedly eat aiptasia but I have read conflicting views on that subject. They are nice shrimp though!!!

I agree with allabout it's defiantly Aptasia. They will spreed very quickly (Just look at my tank) so kill it now. There are a lot of different ways to kill them. I use a product called "Joe's Juice"
Do a search on Aptasia on this site you will find a lot of threads on them

OK Great! *Ive done my search and have almost all my answers! *I am going to try some injecting techniques. *My last question is this: *Do I take the rock out and use a syringe or do it right in the tank?

You can do the injection in the tank...neither the lemon juice nor the Joe's Juice will hurt anything but the aiptasia.

If you haven't already used the lemon/Joe's juice, you can accomplish the same thing with just hot water in the syringe... It worked great for me. I also added 2 peppermint shrimp and they seem to have taken a liking to the Aiptasia only after I got rid of the "really big" ones. I injected hot water into app. 10 larger aiptaisa and now the rest are all gone...
