Smile Help- Brand new to the hobby!!!

HI everyone,

I am brand new to this and I can use all the reassurance and sound advice I can get right now! My Dad has been into it for a while and when he saw I was interested too he decided to get me set up. So he showed up Thursday with a Red Sea Max tank and stand!!! I just got everything put together tonight and put the water and salt in. I am going to keep it primarily as a reef tank with corals(I think). But I have been reading lots of books and now I am getting nervous that I am not going to be able to do this! Anyway I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and let you knwo you will probably be seeing lots of posts from me as I sort through everything!

Welcome to 3reef!
With all of the literature and other available resources to help you, you should have an easier time now, as oppossed to in the past, with having success with a reef tank IMO!
Read and research to gain as much knowledge as you can to help you. We here at 3reef can assist you as well due to the diverse amount of reefers here.
The main things to focus on are: Water parameter consistency and quality followed by efficient and effective Skimmer and lighting! Then, good husbandry techniques and a concrete understanding of fish/invert/coral combatability issues and requirements.
Just take things slow and don't try to cut corners or get sloppy or it will come back to hurt you and your livestock.
Best of luck!!
