Fresh baby brine shrimp

i know the lfs here keeps them alive for a long time.he has them in a large 55 and he sells them buy the gallon.he said he hatches some when he is low only.so i imagine they live for awhile.

First of all, adult live brine are not available now in Canada because the couriers will not ship them. You can bring them across the boarder yourself, or, if you were a large company wholesaling them to other stores you could ship in about a dozen boxes air freight to Montreal or Toronto or Vancouver.
As for growing and hatching, there are many ways to do it, especially just hatching them.
First thing though is to get properly stored cysts!
Cysts need to be stored in a refrigerator, not on a store shelf.
The cysts will hatch out at a wide range of salinities so that's not a problem. They will also hatch in cooler waters but take longer. (I've hatched as low at 70F and not had a problem)
You don't need fancy I.O. water, as you can use rock salt or water softener salt as long as it's just sodium chloride and not a blend.
I personally use 5 parts Crystal Plus water softener purified salt, mixed with 1 part epsom salts and dilute to a s.g. of 1.017.
Aerated with rigid airline tubing with NO air stone as small bubbles can kill both newborn and adults.
Ideal feeding is to use phytoplankton but they can be fed on a lot of things.
I used Tahitian Blend cryopaste from Brine Shrimp Direct, from start to adult, but now use phyto to start with and then switch to cryo when they are about half grown.
I have started experimenting with a new blend now of oat flour and spirulina that I put in a blender with some water and run on high for 15 minutes, let sit for half an hour and then decant the top layer that hasn't settled and feed that to the brine shrimp.
Adults can be gut loaded with many things, lipids, protein, medications, vitamins, so you can use them as a vehicle to get something to your fish that they won't otherwise get. (as long as the particle size is appropriately sized for the shrimp to eat be it nauplii or adult)
I produce them on a large scale now, but originally I was small scale and have my procedures on my website.

Wow that is a lot of words. Thanks for the info... Don't live in Canada and don't want to ship live shrimp anywhere. I would ratehr buy the packets of eggs and hatch them myself.... I tink it woudl be cheeper that way for everybody...
