Some collectors have used toxins to get the fish to come out, and the fish slowly die of it. Others may have internal diseases, parasites, etc that you don't see and the fish store doesn't treat for. Your best chances of having any fish survive is to buy tank-bred and raised fish. They seem to more resilient to diseases. What type of fish have been dying?

Do you have surface agitiation, good flow, maybe an airstone, etc.. enough to keep a high enough oxygen level up in the tank? Salinity level?
What is the temperature of the water? You should keep it around 78-80 degrees, with minimal fluctuations as possible.
salinity between 1.025 and 1.026 temp 76-80. I have the return pump + powerhead.enough flow for sure. a helfrichi firefish died and a two spotted blenny. the fish knew it was dying; it displayed the same symptoms cats and dogs exhibit right before they die. it certainly seemed like something internal. toxin or otherwise not sure. the LFS is reputable in these parts but you never know how their supplier collects the fish.

If all other factors considered to be OK above...

May have stray electrical current in tank...test for and get a ground probe - you will be wanting one anyway.

Or, might want to consider insufficient gas exchange for size tank, number of fish.

Direct some flow at surface...add an air stone to either sump or tank.

Good Luck!

what other fish are in your tank. it could be a bully issue. firefish and blenny are quite peaceful most semi aggressive fish would bully to death
