Default Filtration in QT

Hi, I am about to set up a 10gal QT and was wondering if a Regent AquaTech HOB filter is good enough. Or, should I buy a filter with a Bio-Wheel?

Thanks!

Either one should be fine. On mine I have used a hang on filter mainly for water movement. I hardly ever use carbon. I maintain it by frequent water changes.I usually put a filter on it(without carbon ) to catch floating stuff in the water. That too has to be cleaned almost daily.

Well, I was planning to put this filter in the fuge most of the time and when I need to QT a fish or add a new member, I will take this filter out to the 10 gal tank with the main tank water. Is this a good practice?

And in this case would it be better to use something that have surface for the bacteria to live on...like the bio-wheel?

Thanks!

I typically only set up a QT when it is required. I use Tank water to start it up and a Penguin Power filter (hang on) to maintain it. Do the the short time it is up and running I do not have any permanent way of doing things. Typically Carbon is all I run in it. Daily small water changes keep the water q up.
As soon as the fish is introduced into the main system the QT is torn down and cleaned. then stored for the next time. All I have in the tank when set up is a few pieces of PVC for the fish to hide in. No sand and No LR. As I may need to treat the animal and I do not want the medication to contaminate the sand or LR
