Falling Rocks

This morning when I got up, I found two of my lr had been pushed off the top of my reef by my crab. The one rock fell on a small crab.

How do I, glue the rocks so this can't happen again?

I don't think this killing was plan by the larger crab

You can use fishing string, wire ties but my favorite is to use adhesive/putty! Fortunately, I haven't had a problem with rocks falling as much as corals falling and landing on another coraland then ofcourse you have chemical/toxic warfare with one or both corals being affected!!!!!

Will Super Glue work?

You'd need an awful lot of superglue to get the rock to stick together. I would use the epoxy as suggested above.

Epoxy is your best bet! No crazy glue...besides it doesn't perform well when wet!

Home depot has a green colored(outside is green, inside is white) epoxy in a tube. It's some of the cheapest epoxy they have and it's also made for use in water. I'm sorry I cannot remember the exact name, but that should be enough info for you to find it.

Once you mix it up, it's white and will soon cover with coraline if your tank is growing it.

I've used three tubes of that stuff so far, entire tubes in at once into the tank, 0 problems and holds and manages better than superglue IMHO.

EDIT: I wanted to share that the superglue gel also turns my birdsnest white when I use it. Probably 1/2 - 3/4" up from the contact point. (booo) and this epoxy doesn't seem to do that.

We use Hercules or Oatey's brand plastic plumber's epoxy.

That epoxy from HD is AquaMend it is the EXACT same stuff they sell for 2X at the fish store.


When I set up the new tank I drilled the LR. It's really pretty soft and used the clear wire ties to attact it to my rock rack.
