Default Explain light

HI,
I noticed they rate the white lights at 12000kw per bulb and the blue have a lower number i guess due the uv wave lenght.
Would 24000k be enoughwhite light for soft coral with the blue acentic at a slightly lower number the lights are suspended by a rack no glass directly over the water in a 55 gal tank.
Are moon lights for effect or do they actually help fish to spawn and such?
doug

Here is a link that has pretty useful info regarding lights. It is not very tank specific, but pretty informative. Note there is two parts to the article. Hope this helps. Lighting
