Default Dissolved/Undissolved Oxygen

I was lurking around the forum and noticed that a lot of the threads about cycling had the phrase "dissolved oxygen" or "undissolved oxygen." Most of the threads just mentioned that to increase the oxygen (not sure dissolved or undissolved), you can add an air pump with an air stone or increase surface agitation What exactly are the two and what does a reef aquarium benefit from it?

Also, my tank is in the process of cycling right now, are you suppose to be topping off with R/O water? As the water level in the sump area is getting low and almost below the return pump.

Undissolved is bubbles, dissolved is bonded to water You want dissolved O2 in your water. Putting bubbles in water helps increase dissolved O2. Yes, top off with RODI so you dont add any pollutants into water.

Thanks aquaboy, is there any other way to increase dissolved oxygen without adding an air stone? Could turning up or adding powerheads for flow fix this problem?

BTW aquaboy I saw your video for the video contest, nice 55. Doesnt seem to ghetto to me.

A little ripple in the surface water will help out, also closed tops kill all gas exchange. Open air to surface water is best.
