| I change my filter sock every other day or when i see that water starting to back up in it a little. I push about 1,400gph through my socks so they fill up pretty fast.
As far as water changes, I don't do them, but if you want to then I would still wait until the tank is a few months old to do that. You really don't have anything in the tank that would be consuming elements so you really don't need to change it. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| I'd wait another few weeks before doing a small water change. I don't use filter socks so I can't help you there I'm afraid. |

| Hey All...
I woke up this morning ... er... afternoon... to a nice surprise! The algae on my overflow grew enough to slow the ... overflowing... to the point that the water level in my tank was touching the glass cover.. fortunately it didn't end up on the floor... but it was too close for comfort.
My hermit in there cleans the algae that he finds lower down, but cant reach the top of the overflow or the top of the back wall of the tank where there's a decent amount of algae. Should I just scrape it every once in a while or do you think it's okay to put a couple snails in there for cleaning?

| Well see thats about what I'm using... around the same price...
I thought you meant you bought a new one every other day... so I was thinking $13 * 15 per month = $195/mo just on filters.. |
