Bubble Anenome problems

Hi all-

I purchased a Bubble Anenome in hopes that my clown fish will accept it.
It was OK for 2 days, but I came home from work yesterday and it looked like it was dead. I took it back to the LFS and was told he was alve, but very unhappy.
I purchased 2 new powerheads as advised, and it came back to life overnight...

It seems to be hiding under a rock now, and I am afraid it is stressed out. Should I just let it move around until it finds the right spot? I don't want to force water flow down his throat, but I was told it was shrivled up due to lack of water flow....

Definately alot more difficult than I thought.

I've never heard of anemones shrivilling up due to lack of water flow. I would just leave the anemone alone until it finds a spot that it's comfortable with. I would only be concerned if the anemone starts to disintigrate and fall apart.

Just because he shrivels up doesn't mean he's unhappy. If it stays shriveled for days, that's a sign for concern. Leave it alone and let it find it's place. Dont expect for the clown to take to it quick either.

Mine shrivled up after he decided to crawl into the powerhead filter. I carefully pulled him out, and 2 days later he was very happy. I have learned to just ignore them when they shrivel up for a day or so. They do stupid things.

I am not so concerned hearing this from all of you.

It was embarassing taking the little brown slimy guy back only to find out he is still alive...

I will leave himn alone.

My entire tank seems happier with the new water flo anyway...so no loss.

Well now, you didn't mention anything about the fact that the anemone was brown and slimey. What color is the anemone supposed to be? I know they come in rose and green but not so sure about brown? When you say "slimey" do you mean that it's falling apart or sliming or that it just feels slimey to the touch?

It was brown and slimy, and the tentacles looked like they were singed ogg. Completely nasty looking.

After I placed the power heads in the tank it came back to the original tan color that it was when I bought it. It came back to life literally overnight. Turns out the sucker was in the direct path of the original flow jet, I have the new ones bouncing off the wall .

It is starting to shrivle up again today, but I think it will be OK. The LFS said it turned inside out to get out of the water flow, and recommended the new flow system I have.

I am just gonna leave it be. He is kinda hiding halfway under a rock now... so I'm not sure what to do but leave it be.

I hate to say it but your lfs guy doesn't sound too knowledgable. If anemones don't like the water flow that they're being exposed to, they'll simply move, not turn themselves inside out. Keep a very close eye on the anemone and be prepared to remove it from the tank if it starts melting.

OMFG....I give up. I come home form work and it is shrivled up and nasty brown again.
I moved the rock it is attached to( I know..I said I wasn't gonna move it again) and it opened up and is just as healthy looking as it was at the LFS. WTF?? This Anenome has definately struck my last nerve.
Every time it moves it shrivels up to the brink of death.. I move it and it comes back.
Please tell me that I won't have to play this game forever with it..

Best thing to do, if your water tested fine, temp is fine and lighting is good, just leave it be, mine was shriveling up almost everynight for a few hours. I read all I could find on here and found out i was feeding him too often. I now feed him about once a week, not counting what the clown gives him of course. He still shrinks WAY up but no where near as often. I would also sugguest you not move any rocks and try to place him at all. When he does get in a spot you and he likes, drop him a nice fat juicy shrimp. He will be fine. Also, make VERY SURE you cover your power head intakes with the sponge included. If not included, buy some. And grab and extra for your hob filter intake, if that is what you have. I know how you feel, went there myself. If it werent for this place, poor thing would be gone, and all he was trying to do was poo.
