Default ANY TYPE OF METAL HALIDE BALLAST??
HI, I HAVE BEEN LOOKING IN THE FORUMS FOR THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION, BUT CAN'T SEEM TO FIND WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR...
I AM WONDERING IF I CAN USE ANY TYPE OF METAL HALIDE BALLAST?? I AM AN ELECTRICIAN BY TRADE AND HAVE SEVERAL METAL HALIDE "LOW BAY" FIXTURES THEY ARE FOR A 400 WATT LAMP. CAN I USE THE BALLAST TO LIGHT AQUARIUM LAMPS? I CAN FAB UP A NICE ALUMINUM OR STAINLESS STEEL HOUSING FOR THE LAMPS.. JUST CURIOUS?

You have to look at how your ballast starts the lamp and then pick the proper bulb. Here's a good chart.
