| Re: Another new tank I guess if you have hard water, but you started with tap water so, your reading should have started high and it didn't.
I don't know if that level of calcium is stressful to your inhabitants or not....anyone? If it is not, I would let the tank cycle on its own.....Looks real good, BTW.

| Re: Another new tank Hard to say I guess. I purchased some R0/DI water yesterday to add into the tank as needed for evap. Thought it would be better regardless of what my tap water has in it. Would be nice to get my own RO/DI system, but being in an apartment right now makes it difficult with limited space. Wife and I are in the search for a home, but need a house big enough to also take care of her mother who has MS. Handicap access is a must for her. So Apt. life is all we can do for now. Anyway, that is a whole different story. Thank you all again for your help.

| Re: Another new tank ob]I wouldn'y worry about the 450 CA reading. Corals, snails, crustaceans will all precipiyate CA from the water column to build their skeletons/shells.[/b] _________ Just tryin to recreate God's perfection in a glass bowl. 20 Gallon Reef W/Live Rock, mated pair of Maroon Clowns, Softies, 110 watts PC 10,000k lighting, and skimmer. |

| Re: Another new tank Update...CA level is coming down still...it's at 525 this morning. I am speaking with Walter from Water and Ice to have him set me up with an RO/DI filter system for me. So I'm sure that will benefit the tank greatly once that is completed. All other levels are perfect with the exception of ALK. It has gone down a bit. It's at 5...I added some buffer in this morning to raise that a bit. Everything looks great so far. Thanks to all who have helped me.

| Re: Another new tank Thanks Matt. I was going off a pet shops suggestion on that number. I will listen to the advice on here instead. Seems to be a lot more accurate. Thank you again.

| Re: Another new tank That is what I am reading Birdlady. I am waiting for a price and a final decision on what is going to work for my application. But, I am going with Walter. He is very quick with replies and has not yet tried to sell me something or more of something than I need. Very nice experience. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an RO/DI filter to use Walter. Thanks for the advice on that Matt.
