Default Adding fish

When talking to my LFS guy about adding fish and in what order, he stated I should add them all at the same time. Anyone hear of this or have done this? First of all it would be cost prohibited, but he said it would cut down on territorial fighting.

Thanks

I would say find a new LFS you should not add more than 1 fish to your tank every 3 to 4 weeks. By adding a bunch of fish all at once you would overload your biological filter and you would get a huge ammonia spike ......... John

Yep, it would cut down on territorial fighting that's for sure and some would be dead :-(

Sorry, being sarcastic :-) Just add one fish at a time, as Fletch wrote.

The only time I have seen or heard success with that method is in cihclid tanks it just spreads the targets out, Bio load aside acclimating and learning eating habits would be a nightmare! and stess level in a new tank with possible angry neighbors is never healthy

_________

Starting over with a 210 RR from All Glass, Lifereef Berlin sump, skimmer (installed) and calcium reactor (ordered). Aquatraders Catalina 72" 3x400 mh 10 k/4x96 watt blue PC, Closed Loop with Little Giant 4MDQX-SC and 2- 3/4 Seaswirls.

My sediments as well...If you have a 500 gallon + tank i think yould be just fine... Otherwise he should be poked in the hind quarters (repeatedly) by none other than Neptune himself. [smiley=shocked3.gif] Fish should be added one at a time (unles they are small schooling fish like blue reef chromis) Starting with the least territorial...prioritize additions or firt fish by feeding habbits, aggression, and thier living area in the water column imo.
