| Re: "Acclimation" GREAT THREAD...!
Gained much from...went down to LFS today at noon and brought home a new little "clown" to try out on...(have been promising kids a "Nemo" since day one...)
Kind of combined "ideas" above and used system that should work great on into future...
single drip line (with knot - until I can come up with a control valve) - into a smaller container with new fish and water he arrived in...which was sitting in larger container to collect "overflow" from smaller...ran for about 45 minutes - removing about 1/3 of smaller container's water when it filled to overflowing...netted him and put him in tank where he happily started scooting about checking out his new surroundings...no sign of any initial new environment "shock" at all.
No chance for shipping water to slop into tank...
Will just let run longer for inverts as Phil suggests...
"Nemo" seem to be quite "happy" after about 8 hrs in new residence, though probably quite lonely after coming from "busy" tank at LFS...will wait a week and get him/her a "mate...
THX again,

  | Re: "Acclimation" one store i go to saves there shipping boxes the insulated ones. when you buy fish they give you a box to transfer your fish in especially if its really hot or cold out and i just save my box for next time. one of those styrofoam coolers would work the same maby from walmart or kmart would work just as good. if the box is inside it pretty much remains the room temp it was in. _________ karla 75 gall, 80 lbs sand, 110 lb lr, 10k pcs, atinics, emperor 400, prizm skimmer, hagen and maxi jet powerheads |

| Re: "Acclimation" Matt yes I always have top off water(plain di) and water change water (di/1.023) on hand I make my own di with a kent 200gpd system and kep both moving and airated(sp?) constantly.
Jakets I do rely on the drip system for temp and so far no trouble.
omrad cool to see adaptation after you use it for a while let me know what you think. I prefer minwe because it does the work for me I just get to sit there watching the tank and the acclimation process.
Thanks,
