The new WavePoint Aqua System spot lights are the one of the first HID spot lights made for aquariums that we have seen and are they bright! How bright? Well check out the PPF meter pics inside - you won't believe it. These 35 watt HID lamps will come in 8k and 11k versions and be out in 3 months. Price and more specs now inside. Click to see more pics. 8)

In addition to the tank mount, there will be magnet holders too for the WavePoint HID lamps.

The WavePoint HID Spot ended up hitting over 300 PPF with sensor a couple inches in the water.

What was the coverage area Matt? Seems like you might need a ton of them on longer tanks?

It was hard to get a sense of coverage from the nano setup they had at the show.
I did mention big tanks to the rep and he said that he would use them to 'highlight' areas of the aquarium. I took this as meaning supplemental lighting. They are spots afterall.

That said, these HIDs looked promising for nanos and breeder style aquariums.

298uMol/m2/sec is alright... It will grow SPS but showing ~1200 then dropping to ~300 in a couple inches of water is IMO unimpressive.... Granted its not much wattage but thats a huge jump... I had 270uMol 24" deep with T5.... Interested to see what my new lamp array will show....

I think it would be decent for smaller cubes where you want to save wattage... I would be interested to see the coverage and overall PAR values...

    Thanks Matt
