proper size mh lighting in a 125 tank

    are dual 175 metal halide bulbs with dual 96 watt pc's strong enough for a reef tank

    that is like 4.3 watts a gallon, good for softies for sure. what i heard rule of thumb is for pretty much any coral will grow with 5 watts a gallon

    well rule of thumb is basically 4-5 watts per gallon, this will be able to grow soft corals, any coral grows at about 5 watts per gallon nicely said by onebadcat, um anemones also need a bit more lighting like hard corals, but will be ok with those set of lights, but wiht that i would just stick to soft corals
