Is it better to get MH lighting with an external ballast? My concern is heat by the tank. Current has 150w models with internal ballst or 250w models with external ballst. Im thinking the external ballast would be cooler. Any thoughts or comments?

External ballast would be cooler, reduce fire hazzard and makes the unit less heavy by having the ballast separate from the unit!!!!!!

To add to what CR said, The external ballasts are better(IMO) b/c you can place a fan on them to keep them even cooler. Esp. if there from Odyssea.
