I have a 36 inch sunpod with 2 150 watt 14000K MH bulbs. I have a 46 gallon mixed reef. My temp stays around 77-78. Anyone think switching to 2 250 watt bulbs would be too much for a 46 gallon? Would I have heat issues?
    Thanks,
    Adam

It would be a lot of light, you may have to allow light acclimation time for your corals. As for heat, it depends on close you have your bulbs and if it is an enclosure or not.

Why would you want that much light dude? I think, in the end, 500 watts of halides will actually limit you rather than help you.

I think its up to you. I don't think 2 250s are going to limit you that much. I have multiple friends that have run huge amounts of light on tanks and had no problems. My buddy has a 20 long with 2 150 metal halides and 2 vho's and has no problems with softies, lps, clams, or spf. I have a 46 bowfront and I like the 250s over the 150s.
