Default worms in live rock?

Hi,

First post here. Hi all. I've been reading on this forum for about a year and a half or so before and during the ownership of my reef tank. You are are very helpful and I'm hoping you can help me.

I found these two worm looking things in my tank recently, usually at night. They seems to be afraid of the light. I just recently saw some holes in my rock where it usually is. I'm unable to figure out if its harmful or not. It's very interesting to watch. I hope that video gets up there but if it doesn't, it looks like a feather duster when its fully extended. The "head" if you will, rarely pokes out then folds back up.

Help on identifying and some incite on whether its dangerous and how to remove it if it is.

Thanks all,

Nick

Looks to me to be a peanut worm and is very beneficial to your reef tank as most worms are!! They are detrivors and will help aid in keeping your rock work detritus free! I also have a few of these worms which when I first saw them, freaked me out but upon further investigation...the are good to have!

Are there any worms or creatures that we need to watch out for when purchasing live rock? Its almost impossible to find them when they hide inside. Wouldnt wanna put anything harmful into my tank by mistake.
