Default This may be a stupid question...

...if you want to move LR from one tank to another (both tanks established) do you acclimate the rock?

No such thing as a stupid question except if you don't ask it!!!
That is a good question! If you want to be on the safe side you could acclimate it for a little while. If the water chemistry is very similar in both tanks you could just add it to the other tank...but for piece of mind since we basically acclimate everything, you might as well acclimate the live rock as well. If you have sponge growing on your live rock and want to keep it alive-don't remove it from the water as sponges can't handle oxygen in its tissue(hard time removing it)!

I've never had any repercussions in adding rock directly to the tank without acclimating. If it was from one tank to another, there is no need to worry about death on it and most inverts are hardy anyway. I've purchased rock from the LFS and had it out for a while and the inverts seemed okay. Had peanut worms come out, feather worms, etc, etc.

I've added live rock straight to my tank from the LFS with no problems. I figured ''acclimating'' LR was curing it, and that was only necessary after a long period out of the water.
