| Whoa...
This looks like a pass to me.
You can get much better rock then this.
It is not LIVE.

| I agree with Omard - if you want to kick start your tank, buy the real stuff. Plus i would imagine the shipping costs to get a decent amount of that stuff would be horrendous! Much cheaper to go to the lfs and buy the real thing! _________ You will never know whats in my tank as i can only type 15 words |

| If you went with that though, you would just need to seed it with a few piece of LR. Base rock is a good and inexpensive way to get a nice set up of rock work goin but you need something to introduce the stuff that is "live".

at the very least round about 350 bucks or $5 a LB. and that a conservative price I have seen it for 11.95 a LB. but i don't go there anymore!
If they were to buy 70 LBS of this rock even with shipping it would cost $1.78 a LB, no matter how you look at it that's one heck of a savings. Plus the extra added benefit of not getting a crap load of hitchhikers and algae that you don't want.
Me myself, I would buy 70 lbs and then pick up some live rock from elsewhere and use both cost one heck of allot less and it wold work just as well, just my opinion....

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I was wondering if anyone had used this as base rock. I would likely seed it with some LR from the LFS. After reading Matt's article on sustainable reef keeping I'm not especially excited about filling my tank with 70 pounds of rock that were originally part of a wild reef ecosystem, but I don't know if I have the time for DIY rock. I'll probably end up going with a mix of LR and base rock from the LFS.
Anyone out there ever use this stuff in their tanks? |

| Thanks guys, I ended up finding a great deal on craigslist from a fellow who was taking his tank down, 60 pounds of fully cured live rock for $2/lbs. Waaaayyyy better deal than the $8/lbs the lfs was charging. |

GOOD FIND!!!
Killer deal.
Hope is good looking stuff...
Don't assume "fully cured" after shipping.
Will go thru a mini cycle regardless.
Keep us posted.
