Default Limestone as liverock?

My parents recently picked up a piece of live rock from our LFS. it looks to me like a piece of limestone covered in coralline algae. Would it be safe to add some limestone to my tank just as a base for my live rock creations? im thinking it would be okay if it was cleaned well. it would just end up looking like a piece of LR when covered with coralline. Help me please im looking for a cheap solution to make my tank more full, and i have tons of limestone.

Thanks,
Cerpin

Since Limestone is mainly calcium carbonate, I would think that it would tend to erode away as it tries to balance the calcium levels in the tank. I may be wrong, if so please correct me!
