Hey Ryan,

Nice Art Rock. :thumbsup2:

Here is my idea for your rock making. Get some material that is water soluble and press it into the cement. Maybe when it's been in the water a while you will be left with holes in the rock?
I have used a plaster called Hydra Cal in crafts. Maby try mixing some up leting it harden then breakit up. Mix ur concrete mix well then add the chunks in after ur initial forming. If you just press em in they should hold up for hardening. Wash out with hose nossel.

As far as i Know the main ingrediant is a dry wall type gypsum product. Harmfull ???
It does disolve after its hardened.

note it cant harden twice. no recyclin

I think that would be a great seahorse tank! The rock in the pic is just shy of the size of a 5g bucket (which it was made in). Pretty heafty! I'm working on my technique to have this thing as cavernous and porous as possible, for 3 reasons, weight, cost of COS(crushed oyster shell), and that much less that has to "leach"

Let me know, I would be happy to make you one for free! As long as you pay shipping

i want to know where did you end up finding your crushed oyster shells? i know some animal food stores carry them maby some lfs. is this where you found them or somewhere else. also someting i forgot about ive seen pacu shell reccomended also this may give you bigger holes in your rock. one lfs used to carry it when we were checking it out

I got the crushed oyster shells at an animal feed and supply store. Most people use it to feed birds and chickens I will have to see if they have the Pacu shell!

Thanks,

Here is an update:

I made another rock today! The pic didn't come out too clear but you get the idea. This one is probably the lightest and most "holy" rock yet! It is basically a shell around multiple caverns. I like this one a lot!
Have a great evening! *

Here is another update:

I got out all the rock I have made and played with some aquascaping ideas. I'd love your input. This tank will be mostly fish and inverts with a small variety of SPS. The pic is a little washed out because it was broght out
