| Good or Bad - Cleaning LR with a toothbrush Just a quick question , if anyone can advice - I'm thinking of lightly / superficially cleaning my LR with a soft toothbrush. There is nothing growing on it as of now except coralline. A few pieces I cleaned earlier, showed up with beautiful colors which were hidden under all the useless algae. Let me know please. _________ 90 gallon Reef tank. LR 176lbs, Two percula Clowns, two Blue Damsels, One Tomato clown, One regal Blue Tang Skimmer, RO, 2X150 MH at 14K, 4powerheads,2 dolphin 2300gph each, 2 canister filters, Undergravel filter http://aquariumwaters.blogspot.com/ |

| Go for it! A light scrubbing to remove nuisance algae will not harm anything.

| I've used a bathtub scrubber brush in the past with no ill effects. I was sure to keep the rock in a bath of salt water while I cleaned. It cuts down on the mess. I did it during a water change, so I had lots of tank water for this purpose, that got thrown out after use.
One thing, if you're going to use a toothbrush, just don't use whitening toothpaste, it will bleach out the coralline!

| I love the advice on the toothpaste buddy! I'd never have known! ANd yeah, I'm planning the same...prior to water change...wash with water which is going to be thrown out of the tank. |
