| base rock to a established tank if i was to add 10 lbs of base rock to an estabished tank, would i end up having water problems as the rock cures? should i just cure the rock outside the tank then add it? its 29 gal with 10 gal refuguim and 53lbs of live rock as is, everything is good except my nitrates are at 20-25

| well the the shape the rock is the less likely it is to throw the main tank back into a cycle.
i would cure it out in another tank if possible , to keep from having any troubles.
or you could get some real nice rock from a tare down , already nice and purple

| Looks like you already have plenty of rock for a 29.
What kind of base rock are you talking about? - Can make a big difference in what kind of curing you are talking about.
Yep those nitrates are a bit high. _________ AG "125," AquaC EV 180, 30 gal sump, "SCWD", 80 lbs LR, CoralSeaLife "Moonlite" Hood, PFO 250W HQI Mini-Pendant (SPS HQI 14000k bulb)

Like an aquarium supplier like Cariba Sea would sell . Just put it in the tank Dust and all and not rinse it at all. Thats why I always use a good base rock of known quality for all my personal tanks.. And anyone who does not insist on L/Rock .. If NO3's are a issue a coil de-nitrater will take care of them.. I have ran one since for ever never a NO3 problem .. Over feeding and type of food are the main cause of that problem Its easily curable _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson)
