 |  aquascape help and advise
Hi all, please help, I am going crazy. I have a 65 gal tank with about 90lbs of live rock in there. I am trying to create a nice looking aquascape. I have tore down my rock three times in the past week trying to get it to look just right, and every time it ends up looking the same. What am I doing wrong? Are the pieces of rock to small, is my spacing to close, and advise would be greatly appreciated. I have included some pics. Also, behind the wall of rock is a lot of pieces supporting it.

Try making a mound and not a wall. Get some depth to the tank by building it up from front to back instead of from back to front. Just a thought.

How much rock should or could lean against the glass? | |

The rocks are not going to effect the glass. Remember that everything loses there weight in water. As for the aquascaping, Froc3 mentioned a good idea. You could also buy different shapes and sizes of LR to help you out. I start out by putting the rocks somewhere in the middle of the tank and work my way to the back. The back glass will always get some rocks against it, unless you have a island tank. Hope this helps. Another way to alter the shapes that you are coming up with is to use underwater glues or putty's such as this, then you can stacking to your hearts desire. _________  55 gal All-glass

It looks like you have a lot of small rocks and very few large ones. I have just the opposite. I have a 75g tank with 75lbs of rock, both Fiji and Branch. I have the branch on each end and the Fiji in the center in the form of an inverted U. It kind of has a lagoon effect. You can also form a wedge, go thick to thin diagonally. Just a thought. I think your only problem is that like the other guy said all of your rocks are very similar in shape and size like a brick wall. You might want to mix in a few different size and shape pieces to break it up. Thats all Good Luck

yeah, theY seem too tHe same, not to toot my own horn or anything but i LOVE aqua scaping wit live rocks, i have a 1000 plus images in my head whle aqua scaping, and i think i am really good at it, i just did my 135 tank look here and see what you think and if you get any ideas.

Oh I just saw your location I am in NJ also I could suggest a few places with "reasonably priced" live rock if you wanted a few more pieces where in NJ are you? | |
