| When Peppermint Shrimp shed...REMOVE?? When the lights came on today I found a solid white shrimp attached to a rock. I only have two peppermint shrimp and I see both so I am guessing this is a shell like the locus leave. Does this need to be removed or leave it where it is????? _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| Sounds like the shrimp molted. I would leave the shell in the tank. It will either be eaten or eventually dissolve. |

| I used to take them out, but lately I have just been leaving them in there. Your shrimp will molt on occasion and that is most likely what your seeing. |

I have just got red hair like alge to show up since last Wednesday so I am guess by the Threads in this forum that my tank is just about cycled. Am I right for assuming this??? |

| An algae bloom does not a complete cycle make Have you tested your water lately? Once your ammonia/nitrite/nitrates rise then fall down to "0", then you can consider your tank cycled.
The shrimp molt will not affect your water as it's mostly calcium. |

The shrimp molt will not affect your water as it's mostly calcium. | Here they are as of 10:09 EST 11-24-06
PH 8.2
Ammonia NH3/NH4 0
Nitrite NO2 I think .1 Hard to get the color correct
Nitrate 0
Ackalinity upper part of normal
I have a Red Sea test kit and it came with a Marine Success Buff bottle??? What is that for???
I done a water change last night but have not tested the water today. I have been doing water changes every saturday since I started the tank on October 28 |

| Buff? As in buffer? What does it say on the label?
Don't do any more water changes for a week or two then test your water again. Doing water changes when your tank is cycling will only delay the cycle so I'm not really sure where your water is at until you've let the water "age" for a while before you change it. |
