Default What type of crab is this???

I'm in the midst of setting up my first reef tank and this guy seems to have come along in the live rock I purchased.

I'd lilke to know what type it is and if its good or bad.

Thanks to all who reply.

I am not positive but that looks an awful lot like the crabs I had in my live rock when I got it and they killed my 2 fire fish and ate the polyps off my coral. [smiley=furious3.gif] I was told that they are actually small soft shell crabs but I don't know if that is true [smiley=huh2.gif].... John

That would be your Red eyed Rock crab. He is a bad Boy and should be banished to the sump

Why is it called the red-eyed crab?

[smiley=jester.gif]

I can't wait to build up to a reef tank and find all sorts of surprises. This site has had some pretty evil stuff come out of the woodwork, too, hasn't it? Mantis shrimp, pistol shrimp, that weird 10-inch-long worm.....
