| Sugesstions for a "safe" cleaner? Do to losing about $50 in stock to my hermit, he has gone back to the great LFS in the sky (ok, not really, but I wanted to). Since I'm down to only snails and a pair of peppermints (who I caught gettin' busy with crazy shrimp-on-shrimp action the other night) I'm shopping for a new janitor. The hermit was my primary garbage collector and only sand-shifter.
I don't want another hermit, don't want a sea star (if it's going to starve). It's only a 29 gal so not a lot of space. Corals, anemone, couple of worms, 3 fish. Ideas?
TIA _________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

| Conches are great! They dont climb (that much) so they wont push any coral around, they'll get into your substrate and they are great detritus and algae eaters! I have 3 in my tank and they clean WAY more than any hermit crab will ever clean.
Evan.

| Hermit crabs only normally kill snails to get their shells! If you dont supply them with spare shells to grow into and move around, they will hunt for alternative options! _________ You will never know whats in my tank as i can only type 15 words |

| normally yeah, some are just murderous little bastards though, I have a zebra in my nano that is killing the other hermits for what seems to be sport...
I actually watched him kamikaze dive off the rocks onto a hermit on the sand, flip him over and rip him out of his shell, then just walk off like nothing ever happened |
