| Stupid anemone! Hi,
Last week I was concerned about my LTA getting proper lighting as I have 48w on a 16in deep tank. After consulting with the great people on this forum the solution decided on was to go buy some rock and build him stuff to climb if he wasn't getting enough light. Well I wake up this morning and he has moved from the front corner of the tank, all the way behind my rockpile in the center of the back of the tank. Worse off he is shaded by rock and the filter uptake. WHY!
Now if my clown does decide to host, all I will be able to see is snails and hermits.
Any suggestions? _________ 55 G, with 40lbs LR, 40lbs live sand, Tomato clown, Sixline wrasse, Aussie Duncan, Frogspawn, zoas, blastomussa wellsi, skunk cleaner shrimp, 4 astrea snails, 1 turbo, 12 hermits, 216wt T5HO lighting, Maxijet 600 (modified), Koralia 1, Emporer 280 filter x2. Born from my 20g on 6/8/08. Always a work in progress. |

| It could take weeks for your anemone to settle down. My guess is that it's not going to stay behind the rocks if it's not getting the lighting it likes. If it does decide to stay there, you really don't have a choice. Anemones, in my opinion, require alot more care than than what books simply state. Alot more stress and work than I'm willing to deal with. Hopefully ther isn't any corals it may sting while it's moving around your tank. Also til' it's settled, keep an eye on o-flows, p-heads, and filters. _________ |

| leave him. dont move him. if he needs the light he knows where to find it! biggest mistake with people who are new to the anemone keeping is to keep moving them. because they will just move back and eventually die. they arnt stupid animals, just relax and keep and eye on him im sure he will be ok. make sure he doesnt start to "bleach" |

| LOL, evidently he's a shy anemone , lol ( sorry )
they have a mind of there own and if its going there , it's simply because of water flow and light combination.
It may move' if it does not, in a few day's try redirecting water flow and/or rock configuration ( so your able to veiw it )
Added>
Ita seems all anemones love water flow,
Over the course of millons of years , they developed
the ability to move to an "optimal" location in the ocean and in YOUR tank.
Don't move it right now, it took alot of energy for him to get where he's at, now it needs to rest and recupe from energy spent.
Your clown will host it, it's inevitible.
after a few days/week try doing what i suggested , but don't get in a rush right now.
It's doing what it needs to surrvive and thrive, it has no idea you purchased him to accomidate a "peeping tom".. k ?

| O.K. I won't move anything around for about a week. I really don't know how I can get to him to feed him in his current location. If he decides to stay, I can always turn my tank a 180 degree turn and then he will be front and center! I could just move my equipment to what is now the front. But I will leave him be for a bit to see if he is happy there.
One thing I'm concerned about, if he does not do well, will he get pale and dusky. I hear that if you leave one in your tank and it dies. your tank will die from all the toxins he will release. Can anyone confirm this.\
Thanks. |

Thanks. | If it dies in your tank and sits for too long, it can be real ugly. They turn to mush and is hard to completely remove. Thus, creating spikes in un-wanted parameters. |

| It's hard to say. Sometimes they shrivel up and expel brown feces (looks like it's dying, but, not) , sometimes they shrivel up to expel water to take in new water. They are real moody. If it were me, and noticed that it was shriveled up for more than a day without any change (open/close randomly) I'd keep a real close eye on it. You'll know when it's dead. |
