Default Snail Disappearence

This huge snail that i got from the lfs after just a day as disappeared, the shell alone was around 1 and half inch long, they told me it was a sand sifting tiger snail, can they live out of water is this a possibility its gone and done one or do they sit under the substrate days on end, can't see his little breather pipe think sticking up anywhere?

If you have live rock, he can easily hide around it under the sand, you would think in almost any tank you wouldn't be able to lose critters, but it seems to happen fairly frequently

That's a Babylonia snail. He'll spend most of his time buried, but if you throw in diced chunks of fish or shrimp he'll pop up and rush over to eat them.

Cheers,

Snails can be shy and only come out at night.

I have a giant Zebra Striped Turbo Snail that must be getting close to 4" wide.

Is amazing how well it can hide out, and unless I use flashlight at night, I never see it.

Couple of smaller turbos do same. Would not even know they are in tank.
