Can I keep these two types of shrimp together in my 40 gallon tank?

You should be ok. However, as with anything, be careful because there are always exceptions to the rule. Coral banded shrimp are aggressive as are the infamous arrow crabs.

i just got a Skunk Cleander today around 1:00pm.Got off work around 6:00pm and my Coral Banded must have nipped him in half.Ive heard mixed things about putting these two shrimp in the same tank. my best advice is "trial and error" i know its expensive but some times things work.

I have had a coral banded shrimp for a while and lost 3 cleaner shrimp to strange circumstances . . . if your reading my sig and thinking it had to be the trigger, this was before the trigger was in the tank. I had 1 just go totally missing, and the other 2 looked like something ripped its head off, it was pretty brutal. I finally ended up getting a huge skunk cleaner and all has been well for the last few months.
