I have a pistol shrimp that molted at the very center of my tank under rocks and at the bottom of the tank - I can see the molt from underneath.....it would be very difficult to try and pull that molt out...will this create a problem or will the critters in the sand bed eventually eat it over time?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Just leave the molt.

    No worries.

Mine usually took about 4 days from start to finish to start making sand storms again.

He would molt every month and half roughly, but I bet that is very dependent on the shrimp and environment.

    +1

Also, IMOPE, be it a crab, shrimp, or whatever, they usually will consume their molt themselves in a couple of days or so.

EEEWWWW, they eat their own molt?? Given Coralline's reponse, this one has molted twice in about a month's time? I assume molting is good because it's growing correct?

And they almost always molt right after introduction, probably because of acclimation and water chemistry changes.

Interesting....I wish I saw him out and about more often though. He is a beautiful red color. I love the pistol pop - at least if I can't see him, I know he's alive and well. The goby and he have still haven't bonded yet :(

Correct, they must molt as they grow. FWIW, my Coral Banded Shrimp molts roughly every three weeks.
