It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Never seen anything like that. Just guess I would say someone laid eggs on it or those are some sort of parasite. Unfortunately shrimps do not do well with any types of treatments. So it is a watch and see IMO

Good luck, good eye and good pics.

WHOA! WTF IS THAT? Honestly never seen that, but I wish your shrimp luck if its a disease. shrimp arent good at fending them off because there more delicate. Think about it; fish can survive nitrates and diseases better, so shrimp have more diffculty with that

Thanks everyone... I posted on a couple different forums, and on one of them someone guesses it's a parasitic barnicle. If it is, it doesn't sound good. :-/

I really love our cleaner shrimp also... they are pretty sweet when they clean. The tanks are actually my husband's hobby, and I'm just keeping care of them while he's away. And in the mean time trying to find out what it is for sure, and how to help.

I'll update as I find out more... always good info to have, for future.

    Thanks,
    Sandra

I'm not exactly sure what it is, but I've seen this before. Not in my tank though. I do believe it is a type of parasite. You'll have to wait it out I guess.:-/

I love cleaner shrimp as well. They are pretty fun to watch. I had 2 of them in my 29g, which passed away a few months ago...during a molt I believe.
