Thanks for sharing your story, dcaribewolf@bellsouth! I think anemones eat many types of food and by skimming and water changing down to 0 nitrates we deprive them of necessary nutrients! I don't have very demanding corals yet, and have never water changed or skimmed. Correct me here if I'm wrong here, but I've had a healthy anemone and nitrates around 0.3, 0.5, and 0, but I keep feeding so there is always some nitrate, frequent and small feedings seem to work best.
