Are peppermint shrimp jumpers?

I just bought a new peppermint shrimp and added it to my tank and he has vanished. Right when I put him in, he stayed at the top of the tank, and I don't have the back where he was at enclosed, so he could have got out. I didn't see any body outside of the tank, but have 2 dogs and 2 cats that could have scooped him up pretty easy. Was wondering if maybe he jumped out. Any thoughts?

um, i dont think they can jump because when their body is outa water it kinda colapses...but...i wouldnt rule it out, it might just be hiding, i know mine is very hard to find when he dosnt want to be...try looking at night, they come out more then

Jumper? Not likely. Bruce called it, he's probably hiding. They can disappear for for days ... especially when they molt.

They can jump, but most likely it didn't. I'd find them quite frequently on the ground around their tank at the facility I used to work at.

Gresham is correct. I have found shrimp to quite good at jumping. While acclimating them at work, I found this to be very true. They are also very good hiders. too. Hopefully he's just lurking somewhere....

Hey, good news!! The shrimp turned up alive and well!! Saw him for the first time a week after we put him in - wow did he do a good job of hiding -we looked everywhere! Thanks for all the help!
