Default My Hermit's Ate My Cleaner Shrimp And Cucumber

So after a hard day of work. I come home to find 2 of my blue legged hermits just munching on my Cleaner Shrimp what was left of him any way. I thought they were supposed to be peaceful unless hungry? My tank is nearing the end of it's cycle but I make sure I feed flakes and some freez dried bloodworms. They were munching on my Cucumber also. I'm hurting right now this sucks. I have the nerve to get rid of them all. So I think I will not get anymore let them die off. Or does the crab's outweigh the cleaner and the cucumber. I rather have the latter. I can just get more snails? I'm going to wait a few month's them get them all out of my tank the evil bastards.

if yer tank is still in a cycle its possible the cycle killed yer cucumber and maybe shrimp and posible the crabs were doing there job, that said i dont have hermits in my tank for that reason i got sick of them eating everything.
i only have snails now and they have the added bonus of being able to clean the glass

srry for your loss

well they could have just been munching on his exo skeleton that he shed, if it was not then you must have rough hermits, cause most of mine are scared of my shrimp and would never attack him ahha

I have about 20 hermits in my tank and they are peaceful as heck. They have eaten leftover exoskeletons and left over krill from feeding. I would have a hard time believing they would kill a shrimp. If the shrimp had a nice cozy shell on it's back, maybe.

Well I'm sure it's not the cycle tank has been set up for almost 4 months now. They both were acting normal. Cucumber moving around and everything. I'm just waiting for my Nemo to finish QT in another 3 weeks now. But tank is cycled though basically everything has bee 0 for a while now.

I hate hermits. I just got rid of Jeff (as in "Dahmer"), my last hermit. I added a rainbow tube worm yesterday and it didn't last 15 minutes in the tank before he tore it apart.

I'm hoping the remaining snails and peppermints will take care of the tank...

There is no way that the hermits could have possibly "caught" that shrimp. He was on the way out or dead already. I'm sorry to say, but hermit have never been accused of being "quick" Maybe you got some crafty little guys, but there is no way imo that they would have brought him down. He would have just swam away, possibly missing one leg (Which grows back). I'd try some conches. They're great! They are algae and detritus eaters and dont climb too much on the rocks. Snails should keep the rock and glass clean.

Evan.
