| Molted over night? I bought a coral banded shrimp yesterday evening. acclimated him for about two hours and put him in. This morning i saw what i thought was him, dead, in the corner. I was a lil' upset, but as I was fishing out the carcass I saw him climb over from back of rocks. I was happy, obviously. I didn't know they could molt that fast. I didn't see any signs of molting at LFS. and everything i read says while molting they'll hide out for 2 or 3 days, this one didn't try to hide at all. I didn't know they molt everything long tentacles and all. and the carcass didn't look faded or anything it looks like a dead shrimp.
I also picked up an orange gorgonian, and 10 more lbs of LR. I'll post pics later this afternoon. _________ 75gal hex, 2-40w T12 48", odyssea 48" 4x65w PC's w/ lunars, 50lbs LR, 80lbs LS, gold banded maroon clown, dog faced puffer, juvenile blue angel, 2 dominoes, 1-4 stripe damsel, yellow watchman gobie, lawnmower blenny, mano, purple chromis, striped grouper, mexican turbo, astrea and red foot snails, striped, red and blue legged hermit crabs, coral banded shrimp, white and purple bubble coral(very little), red and green mushrooms, orange gorgonian, candycane Tanks, No Thanks. | First time I saw my shrimp molt I thought the same thing. He should be just fine but they do usually try and hide for a couple days after a molt. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| My CB's seem to molt far more often then other shrimp...
Amazing to see them lose a claw leg...then there it is again right after next molt. _________ AG "125," AquaC EV 180, 30 gal sump, "SCWD", 80 lbs LR, CoralSeaLife "Moonlite" Hood, PFO 250W HQI Mini-Pendant (SPS HQI 14000k bulb)

| I thought the same thing with my CB. The LFS told me that molting is a sign of a healthy tank. My CB molted overnight pretty often compared the my hermits. He was also meaner than satan's spawn so I took him back for a few bucks credit. _________ 55 G, with 40lbs LR, 40lbs live sand, Tomato clown, Sixline wrasse, Aussie Duncan, Frogspawn, zoas, blastomussa wellsi, skunk cleaner shrimp, 4 astrea snails, 1 turbo, 12 hermits, 216wt T5HO lighting, Maxijet 600 (modified), Koralia 1, Emporer 280 filter x2.
