Default Mantis shrimp clicking

I think, I caught myself a mantis... Well, at least I found it early so I can find it without doing any harm to a nice tank

But what I wanted to know is the volume of the clicking. It almost seams too loud to be made by a small shrimpy...
Does that sound about right?

well, I gotta take the rock out anyway because when I searched the rocks from all angles with a flashlight I found a pretty big hairy crab in one of the deep holes. I wanna get that one out too...

hm, I hope that thing doesn't brake my glass

and I haven't seen him, just heard him. I just saw that little crab.
There was an article at the Dr. Fosters and smith page. About putting rocks in a bucket with 1.040 salinity for about a minute. They say that critters flee from the rock and then you can kind of look through them and see, what it good and what not. I guess I'll try that.

yeah, I hope I'll have a chance to do that this week.
I'm gonna be gone over the weekend and my family comes to visit me from germany on tuesday and they stay for 2 weeks. I don't think I'd have the time to do it then.

I've heard of mantis' smashing glass, but they can't smash the tankglass, can they?

Well Urban Myth says they can, maybe someone else can find some real evidence of this actually happening :-)

You may have a pistol shrimp also. That is what I had found as a hitchhiker in my liverock making all the clicking.
