| Mantis shrimp clicking I think, I caught myself a mantis... Well, at least I found it early so I can find it without doing any harm to a nice tank
But what I wanted to know is the volume of the clicking. It almost seams too loud to be made by a small shrimpy...
Does that sound about right?
well, I gotta take the rock out anyway because when I searched the rocks from all angles with a flashlight I found a pretty big hairy crab in one of the deep holes. I wanna get that one out too...

| Re: Mantis shrimp clicking hm, I hope that thing doesn't brake my glass
and I haven't seen him, just heard him. I just saw that little crab.
There was an article at the Dr. Fosters and smith page. About putting rocks in a bucket with 1.040 salinity for about a minute. They say that critters flee from the rock and then you can kind of look through them and see, what it good and what not. I guess I'll try that. |

| Re: Mantis shrimp clicking yeah, I hope I'll have a chance to do that this week.
I'm gonna be gone over the weekend and my family comes to visit me from germany on tuesday and they stay for 2 weeks. I don't think I'd have the time to do it then.
I've heard of mantis' smashing glass, but they can't smash the tankglass, can they? |

Well Urban Myth says they can, maybe someone else can find some real evidence of this actually happening :-)

| Re: Mantis shrimp clicking You may have a pistol shrimp also. That is what I had found as a hitchhiker in my liverock making all the clicking. |
