| Mantis Shrimp ---- BEAST ! I've read all kinds of stuff about this animal (mostly nasty) and after watching this I can understand why this shrimp has such a bad*ss reputation.
Kind of makes you think twice about ordering that "shrimp cocktail" next time you go out to dinner.
WOW
I hope this works: http://youtube.com/watch?v=InY1NHTnt...antis%20shrimp |

| It's just Nature taking its course. I'm sure there is something out there that will make a quick snack out of a mantis Thanks for the video.

| They are aggressive and not to be placed in a reef tank( no exceptions!) Some are very pretty and if you house one alone in a tank, may be very enjoyable to have. _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | I got a Mantis shrimp yesterday! Went to the usual supplier last week and they had one which someone had brought back from a load of live rock they bought. Asking about whether it was for sale, one of the more superior staff said "The boss would probably give you it if we could get it out of the (2 kilo) piece of rock it was hiding in."!
So went back yesterday, and said to a more junior staff member "Ian said we could have the mantis for free if we got it out of the rock. Rather than try, we'll just take the rock with him still in it."
So 2 kilo piece of rock for £18 and a free mantis. He's living in his own little section of a multi tank setup running off a sump system, and his tank is acrylic. Sitting at the computer this morning I heard the distinct clicking sound so sneaked over to have a look. Well, he's only out of his hole and walking around, so I removed the large piece of rock and gave him a smaller piece, more suited to his tank.
I'll get some pics when I get the lighting set up later.

| I hope the Mantis Shrimp is in his own tank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????
If it is in a tank with those listed in your signature, you are going to have a decrease in the population with regards to your inverts especially.
They are very pretty, but very aggressive and are carnivores. Make sure it is in its own tank. |
