Ok I am thinking of getting one of these but would like some opinions on them.

For what? Algae problems?

I would look into a sea hare instead. nudis have 'short' lifespans because most (or all) of their nutritional needs aren't met in our tanks.

I live in Jamaica and I can catch them all over the place. I've had a couple. They seem to live pretty long if I acclimate them to the temprature. If not they die immediately. WHen I say long I mean I've had one last about 3-4 Months.

They love going through powerheads too.

Yep, they sure do love the powerheads and they won't make an engineer goby sick when shredded and ingested.......more like a tasty treat it seemed....... Mine seemed to be doing great, but the powerhead was just too tempting for them.

How do they get caught in the powerheads and yet snails don't get harmed.

they get caught up in the current and sucked right thru, cause they're so light...My best guess...

Their body is very light and quite stretchy. Easily sucked into PHs

Sea hares will help with algae and generally any detritus and a great part of any CUC for a 55g+ And they are kinda cool :p

Nemo you'll be far better off just getting the proper number of snails to do the job.. Most aquariums never have enough. I'd guess the average tank say a 75 gallon has about 60 snails (: when in fact they need about 175 at least. Most cleaner crew packages have far to few snails and to many hermits I think I never have a lot of hermits myself and double up on the snails ..
