Default Ladies and Gentleman... The Octopus has left the building

I found out today that my octopus has moved on........ he had not been eatiung for a week and his eyes had cone completely white, we had him for over three motnhs, normal life span in captivity is six months, but he was very large when we got him. needless to say i am very very very sad to see him go

i would definitely reccomend it as long as you can have them in a species tank, they are great to watch feed and prowl around, if you need any info on how to keep them i would be more than happy to help

was it a caribian dwarf ,most of the larger species have a lifespan of 12 - 18 months although you did say it was quite large when you got it.

it was just a common brown octopus, when i say quite large i mean that it is large in comparison to other i have seen in home captivity

Well, they are very cool residents, but yeah, they live fast and die young. I've had three different ones, and it's amazing to watch them interact with the other animals in the tank. Sorry you lost yours, but you still have the education that keeping it provided.
